Delegation to Paris and Sorbonne University, France
The delegation included a variety of activities, including:
Joint workshops and classes with French students – Meetings at INALCO (Institut National des Langues et Civilisations Orientales) and Alliance School with faculty members and graduate students in Jewish Studies to discuss academic programs and current research topics. Participants also attended a lecture by Professor Judith Olszowy-Schlanger on medieval Jewish manuscripts, the digitization of manuscript collections, and the ways these digital resources can be integrated into history teaching.
Learning about teacher education in France – Meetings with the school leadership and history teachers at Alliance School, focusing on the French Ministry of Education curriculum, the teaching of Jewish history, and the challenges of addressing this subject in the current social and political climate.
Experiencing the local culture – A series of cultural and educational tours, including a Chanel-themed exploration of French fashion and material culture, and a journey along the historic medieval pilgrimage route. The delegation visited leading museums and historical landmarks, including the Dior Museum, Conciergerie, Sainte-Chapelle, and Notre-Dame Cathedral. Participants also took part in a unique guided experience at the Musée National du Moyen Âge (Cluny Museum) and an alternative interpretive tour at the Musée d'Orsay, enriching their understanding of French history, art, and cultural heritage.
