The delegation included a variety of activities, including:
Joint workshops and classes with Slovak students – Participation in classes with pre-service teachers and guided tours of the laboratories at Constantine the Philosopher University, led by science students and faculty members.
Learning about teacher education in Slovakia – Meetings with school staff and students in public schools, providing insights into the Slovak education system, its curriculum, and the structure of teacher education. Participants explored both the similarities between the Slovak and Israeli education systems—such as teacher shortages, low salaries, curriculum-related challenges, and school organizational structures—and the differences, including unique school subjects such as woodworking, culinary arts, and other vocational and practical disciplines.
Field-based practical experiences – Hands-on experience with innovative teaching approaches, including Study Walks (learning through movement and dialogue), outdoor learning, and place-based education, demonstrating how learning can be meaningfully connected to the surrounding environment.
Experiencing the local culture – Meetings with the Israeli Ambassador to Slovakia, who shared insights into Slovakia's history and the relationship between Slovakia and Israel, as well as with a representative of the Jewish community in Slovakia. The delegation also participated in a guided tour of the Great Synagogue in Budapest, where students learned about the history of the Jewish communities of Slovakia and Hungary from historical, social, political, and cultural perspectives.
