Advanced qualitative research methods for visual education

During the course we will discuss the main models of qualitative research in the social sciences. In addition, we will examine the possibilities of conducting qualitative research in the fields of education and visual art. The characteristics of visual ethnographic research, as well as ethnographic and ethno-visual issues in visual education will be discussed.

One-Semester Course

The course participants will learn the process of collecting and interpreting information. They will also engage in the creation and understanding of knowledge and practice the use of the research instruments and narrative, ethnographic, ethno-visual and photo-documentary research methods.

Approaches to critical assessment of learning

Faculty:

During the course we will examine different approaches to the evaluation of various aspects of teaching and learning: cognitive principles of learning and instruction, methods of supervision, study materials, educational projects and student products. Special emphasis will be place on the critical assessment of supervisors during training in the visual arts (design, art, or film). (Prerequisite: a course in educational assessment and management).
